Harris - Carry Catherine

Source: Crawfordsville Review 29 April 1924 p7

Funeral services for little Carry Catherine Harris, who passed away at 12:00 o’clock Thursday night, April 24, 1924 at the age of 1 years 4 months 8 days were conducted at the home Sunday afternoon at 2 o’clock by the Rev. JL Wilkinsons. The Hooker sisters sang three beautiful songs. The little body was laid to rest amidst the lovely flowers our friends gave. The pall bearers were four of her aunts. The flower bearers were three of her cousins, Thelma and Eva Carver and Edward Shahan. Little Carry was the child of Mr. and Mrs. Emerson H. Harris, residing southeast of the city on the Danville Road. Besides the devoted mother and father she leaves two grandmothers and one grandfather, Mr. and Mrs. Charles McCoy of this city and Mrs. Sara McClure of south of Waynetown, five aunts, one uncle and 11 cousins. She was too sweet to stay on earth. She was a frail little flower from birth but oh, so patient A rosebud has been plucked from our garden and transplanted in the heavens above where never more she will suffer for the heaven there is nothing but love. Her little chair is vacant – a vacancy no one can fill. Her voice we used to her prattling will forever be hushed and stilled. We will miss her big brown eyes, we will miss her sweet little face, we will miss the wave of her little hands and her face which we will want to gaze upon. Do we miss her? Oh yes we miss her. It was so hard to let her go but there was a vacant spot in the garden above and the Lord said, “Come!”  We are all going to meet her in that bright heavenly home. If we will always trust in Jesus, she will not be alone. Father, Mother, Grandparents, Aunts, Uncles and cousins - kbz
